SMT Verse #18
It's time once again to commit another verse to memory. Wow ladies...we're on our 18th verse! I've chosen a shorter verse this time because I know that the last half of this month is super-busy, but I also chose this verse because I want to be armed with the Truth. This time of year I feel so many arrows aimed at me...from well-meaning relatives and their inquiries about my life =) ...from the extra stress of all the things that have to get done...from my own insecurities, just to name a few. So I'm taking up my shield of faith to block those incoming arrows and claiming this verse for the holiday season and the rest of my days.
That's all. That's enough. No matter what is said to me or about me...no matter what circumstances I am facing...no matter what my feelings and emotions try to tell me, I know this: He is my God and He is my enough.
Now it's your turn to let us know what verse you are committing to memory for the last part of the year. Share the verse, reference and version in the comment section. I pray that as you continue to add verses to your arsenal, that you find you are better equipped to handle the arrows aimed at you. Stick with it ladies!
Merry Christmas!

"But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD;
I say 'You are my God.'"

SMT Verse #17
It's the last first day of the month for this year, and we are on our 17th verse! We've entered the time of year that, for most, means more time spent with family. I have had the privilege of growing up around 4 grandparents who love me unconditionally. Though one is now with Jesus, I am still blessed with being able to spend quality time with the other three. And I know without a doubt that one day we will all be praising our Savior around the Throne. I know the legacy of faith that they have given me. I long to be able to leave the same kind of legacy...whether someone has known me a day or my entire life. I want them to be able to say of me what Paul said about Abraham:
God has promised never to leave me or forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6); He has promised that the work He has begun in me, He will complete (Philippians 1:6); He has promised that I can do all things in Christ who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13); He has promised that He will always provide a way out when I am tempted (1 Corinthians 10:13); He has promised to give me wisdom (James 1:5); He was promised me His peace (John 14:27); He has promised to forgive me (1 John 1:9); He has promised that He is preparing a place for me with Him for eternity (John 14:2)...and those are just a few of His promises. In respect to these promises of God, I do not want to waiver in unbelief but grow strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God has promised, He is able also to perform.
Now it is your turn. Leave a comment with your chosen verse(s), reference and version. If you feel like it, let us know why you have chosen this verse to memorize. It is always encouraging to see how God is working in the lives of our sisters in Christ. If you haven't shared your memory verse with us lately...or ever...go ahead and join us now!

Seeking Him--Week 12
If you want to learn more about the study, you can go here to read about it. We are fervently praying for personal revival...to be restored to a right relationship with our LORD.
We have a LOT to get through in the hour that we will be meeting, so please make every effort to be on time We will start at 7PM sharp. Will it help to have done your homework prior to class? Yes, but it is never a complete necessity. You will get the most out of the study by doing your homework, but we know that God's Word will not return void, and as long as we're studying His Word & our hearts are in the right place, we WILL get something out of it. So, come, even if you didn't get the week's lessons done.
Childcare is available (but we do ask for donations). Please leave a comment here or call the church office at 972-712-4000 if you need childcare THIS Monday night. We need to know by noon on Monday so that we will have enough childcare providers available.
See you Monday night...if not before!!

SMT Verse #16
As we quickly approach the holiday season, I pray that we all remember to keep our commitment to treasure His Word in our hearts. I am thankful for each one of you...whether you've been able to memorize two verses a month or none. I pray that God will give you a longing to know Him more and more.
With Thanksgiving a week away, I wanted to memorize a verse that would remind me...command me...to give thanks no matter the circumstances. I have learned...and continue to learn....that God is in complete control. Whether I perceive the circumstances to be good or bad, I trust in the One who is at work in me. He has promised that He will complete the work He has begun. I already know the ending to my story--eternity with Him. I may not understand all the little twists and turns of my journey to eternity, but I know Who does. And in light of this, I will heed the God-inspired words that Paul wrote to the Thessalonian church.
I encourage you to choose a verse of thanksgiving this time around. If you've never joined us before, come on! You will not be disappointed as you hide His Word in your heart. Leave a comment with your chosen verse, the reference and the Bible version. If you haven't joined us here in a while, don't let that stop you now...you can hop right back in. Let's continue to work together to memorize the Truth so that we won't fall for the lies that continually bombard us. Now is the time!

SMT Verse #15
It's a new day...a new month...that means it is time for a new verse. As I look back at the verses I've chosen to memorize over the last 7 months, there are a LOT that have to do with what comes out of my mouth. This one is no exception. =) I can say that I've gotten better about keeping my mouth shut when it needs to be shut, but it is still something that I have to actively work on day by day...sometimes minute by minute. I am so thankful that God is etching these verses into my heart...I long for the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart to be acceptable in His sight because He is my Rock and my Redeemer.
Now it's your turn. Leave a comment with your verse, reference and version. If you have no idea what the SMT is, go here to read all about it...then join us! It's not too late.

SMT Verse #14
It's the 15th of October...and that means it is time for our next memory verse! For those of you who have been part of our Scripture Memory Team from the beginning, I am so proud of you. We have committed to memorizing two verses a month. I know that some months have been harder than others...and some verses have been harder than others. I am proud of you for sticking with it!! For those who started, then stopped, and now want to jump back in...WooHoo!!!! Welcome back! If you are just finding out about this, join us! You can read more about it here...and don't worry, it is NEVER too late to start memorizing God's Word.
Here is the verse that I have chosen this time around:
"For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him."
Philippians 2:13 (NLT)
So many good things in that little verse! I am very aware and grateful that God is working in me. And not only is He giving me the desire to do what pleases Him, He is giving me the power to do it. I can strive and strive to do what I think He wants and fail every time. But when I let go of my stubbornness and self-sufficiency--my PRIDE--He is able pour His grace upon me. Praise the LORD!!
Now it's your turn. Leave a comment with your verse, reference and translation. If you don't know what verse to memorize, feel free to use a verse that one of your sisters has chosen this time around or since we began this journey together. You can go to the top right of this page under 'Labels' and click on the SMT link. It will take you to all the SMT posts. You can read the verses I have chosen or check out the comments to see what others have chosen throughout the last six months. I can't wait to see what God has placed on your heart to memorize!

Seeking Him--Week 3
If you want to learn more about the study, you can go here to read about it. We are fervently praying for personal revival...to be restored to a right relationship with our LORD.
This Monday evening we will be studying Lesson 3--"Honesty: Silence Isn't Always Golden."

SMT Verse #12
Guess what?? With today's verse, we are halfway through our goal of memorizing 24 verses in a year!!! I am so proud of you ladies for sticking with this. And don't worry, if you've fallen behind in your verses or haven't joined us yet, there's no reason you can't start today!!
I'm going to work on refreshing and polishing my previous 11 verses as well as focus on Hosea 10:12 to wrap up September. This new verse is key in our Fall Bible Study called 'Seeking Him' by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. You can go here to read more about the study. We would love to have you join us!!
Anyway, I've chosen this verse because it is the cry of my heart during this season of my life.
"Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until He comes and showers righteousness on you."
Hosea 10:12 (NIV)
My prayer is for my Savior to break up the fallow ground of my hardened heart....to break up the sin I cling to--my pride, my fear, my selfishness, and oh so much more...so that He can plant in me a love and desire for His will. I pray that this will be my cry not just for this season of my life but all the seasons of my life...until He comes and showers righteousness on me.
Come quickly LORD Jesus...until then fill me with the desire to seek You. Be my Comforter and Healer through the breaking of my hardened heart. From the broken pieces, create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me (Psalm 51:10)
Now it is your turn to let us know what verse you will be committing to memory this last half of September. I look forward to seeing where God is leading each one of you. If this is your first time joining our Scripture Memory Team, just click on "comment" below and type in the verse, reference and Bible version that you have chosen. If you don't know what verse to memorize, feel free to choose one that someone else is memorizing. You can also click on 'SMT' under the Labels section at the top right of this page. There you will be able to see the verses that I have chosen as well as read the comments to see what the other ladies have chosen to memorize throughout this journey that we are on. God promised us in Isaiah 55:11 that His Word will not return to Him empty, but will accomplish what He desires and achieve the purpose for which He sent it. What a promise!! And what a turn your life...and your view of your life...can take when you take Him at His Word and meditate on His Word!!
Praying for you, my sweet sisters!

SMT Verse #11
September is upon us, and I don't know about you, but I am longing for the cooler weather! As we get back into the swing of things after a fun summer, I pray that each one of us will make our time with our Creator a priority. One way to have His Word with you at all times is to have some of it memorized! That is why we are committing to be a part of this team...a team that is working together to memorize two verses a month. If you've struggled with this over the summer, jump back in. Don't be discouraged! If you haven't officially joined in with us, I encourage you to do so. It really helps to know that your sisters are here to encourage you and hold you accountable. =)
I've chosen a passage from the book of Psalms this time around. Sometimes I just need a reminder of who I am and Whose I am.
"In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be ashamed; in Your righteousness deliver me. Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly; be to me a rock of strength, a stronghold to save me. For You are my rock and my fortress; for Your name's sake You will lead me and guide me."
Psalm 31:1-3 (NASB)
Now it's your turn to leave a comment with your chosen verse, reference and Bible version. If you want to learn more about our Scripture Memory Team, you can leave a comment or go here to read more about it.

SMT Verse #10
Wow! It is time for our tenth verse!! I pray that each of you is reaping the reward of sowing God's Word into your life. As the summer winds down and you get back in the groove of school, you will be blessed by making sure that you have set aside time each day to meditate and study His Truth.
As I stated in the last SMT post, I am working on a four-verse passage for the month. So this time around I will be working on the 2nd half of the passage.
Your turn! Let us know the verse you have chosen for the last half of August. Stick with it!!

"The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true, they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb."
Psalm 19:9-10 (NASB)Your turn! Let us know the verse you have chosen for the last half of August. Stick with it!!

SMT Verse #9
Sorry, sorry, so sorry! I almost forgot to get this on here today. So, I'll make it short and sweet.
I've chosen a four verse passage for the month of August. I will do the first two now and save the last two for the second half of the month. I have had them underlined in my Bible for quite some time but have never hidden them in my heart. It's time...so, here goes....
Now it's your turn. You know the drill. And if you don't, well just click on the SMT link on the right side of this page (under 'Labels') and read about our memory verse commitment. We would LOVE for you to join us! If you have joined us before, but have missed a couple of verses...please jump back in. Let us continue to encourage one another and hold each other accountable. Proverbs 27:17

SMT Verse #8
Wow! This day has gotten away from me. So sorry I didn't get this posted earlier.
It's the 15th of July...time for verse #8. You have been so faithful in posting your verses. I am so excited for what God is doing in your lives as a result of meditating and memorizing His Word. Keep it up!! For those of you who have done a couple of verses, I encourage you to hop back on board. Don't let the busy-ness of life keep you from getting to know Him better. And for those of you who have not joined our Scripture Memory Team yet, COME ON! You will be amazed at what you can do and what situations you can get through because you know His promises to you. If you have any questions about memorizing Scripture...or how to even pick which ones to memorize, ask me. I'd love to help you on this journey of knowing Him more and more so that we can reflect His glory more and more.
I'm going to my family reunion this weekend and am so excited to get to spend time with them. This weekend there will be 45 people there ranging in age from 5 months to 85 years! And that's not even all of us--we number over 75...with 2 more on the way. I bring this up because I have been blessed to be part of a family that has had God at its center for generations. What a treasure that is!! I have chosen to memorize the following verses so that I will remember my part in showing the generations to come...and those already here...who God is and that He loves us so!
Now it's your turn. Leave a comment with your verse, reference and version. I can't wait to see all of your verses! Keep on keepin' on!!

SMT Verse #7
Hey Ladies! Can you believe it??? We are now on our 7th verse! I pray that you are gaining as much from this journey as I am. I can't tell you how many times God has used these verses in my life for the last 3 months. Sometimes I've felt that I've chosen the memory verse randomly, but then circumstances occur in my life and I KNOW that God has led me to get those verses in my head and my heart!
I've chosen my verse this month for two reasons...the first being that we are celebrating our great country's independence. I am so proud to be an American. I know that our earthly freedoms did not come without sacrifice. I am so thankful to the service men and women in our armed forces and for their families. They give so much to protect our freedoms. The second reason I've chosen this verse is infinitely more important...because we have a Savior who sacrificed His own life so that we could be free. I want that freedom! God and I have been working on specific strongholds that have enslaved me. So, I'm claiming this verse...standing firm in His promise.
"It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery."
Galatians 5:1 (NASB)
Now it's your turn. You know the drill. Know that I'm praying for each one of you! If you haven't joined our Scripture Memory Team, we'd love to have you on board. You can go here to read about our 2 verses/month commitment and why we are filling our hearts and our heads with TRUTH.
I pray that you will choose to live in true freedom...it comes from Him alone.

SMT Verse #6
What's up CAMPERS! Oh wait, wrong audience. =)
It's the 15th of the month, which means it is time for our next verse. I may be at camp with a bunch of screaming pre-teens, but that won't stop me from adding my next verse to my spiral...in fact, it will probably drive me to it even more. =)
I love that word "all"...doesn't really leave anything out! And I'm sure I'm going to be clinging to this promise by the time Friday rolls around.
Your turn to share your verse, and I'm sure we'd all love to hear why God has led you to this verse this time around. By the way, with this verse we are now a quarter of the way to our goal. Great job Ladies! Keep up the good work!! Oh, and go ahead and leave a comment with your verse. I'll get them approved as soon as I can, but I may not be able to get to them until Friday...but don't let that keep your from starting on your verse.
If you have a chance, Melanie and I would LOVE your prayers this week.
Keep on keepin' on!

SMT Verse #5
It's June 1st....JUNE 1ST!!! I can't believe how fast time is a flyin'! School's out in a couple of days and the summer fun has already begun. I don't know about you, but summer tends to be a crazy time for me. In fact, I'll be posting the next verse from camp! But for now, I'm sitting in my office with tons of to-do lists on my desk.
Last month I committed to memorizing Matthew 12:34b-37. It was a tough one, but one that I definitely needed to have running through my head! I now have no excuse not to know that my mouth speaks out of that which overflows from my heart...and that I will be held accountable for every careless word that I speak. God has really been convicting me on those careless words. So along those lines, I've chosen this prayer-verse for the first part of this month.
"Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips." Psalm 141:3 (NIV)
Now it's your turn. For those of you already on the team, you know the drill: leave a comment with your verse, reference and version. For those of you who want to join our team, COME ON!! You can go here to read all about our commitment to learning 2 verses a month so that we have God's Truth in our minds instead of the lies of this world. If any of you need ideas for your verse, you can go back and read all of the SMT posts and comments to see what your fellow sisters have chosen in the past.

SMT Verse #4
Alrighty, Scripture Memory Ladies! It's the 15th and time for our 4th verse. We are getting to the end of the school year which brings so many extra things into our schedules. It is so easy to get overwhelmed and feel like there is just no way that we can do even One.More.Thing. But let's not give up on learning His Word. If you need to stretch your verse over the whole month...that's okay. Just don't quit.
I want to encourage you to stick with our ultimate plan...to get God's Word into our hearts and minds. This leads me to the verses I've chosen this time around.
"For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil. But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
Matthew 12: 34b-37 (NASB)
I don't know about you, but I know that makes me really want to fill my heart with good treasure! Now it's your turn. Leave a comment and let us know what verse you have chosen. Be sure to include the entire verse, reference and translation...since someone may choose to memorize your verse as well. And as always, if you are having trouble deciding what to memorize, you can use mine or one of the others chosen for this time around or the previous times. There's no shame in copying! =)
Keep on keepin' on!

SMT Verse #3
It's the 1st of May, so it's time to get the third verse in our little spirals and start memorizing! Let's keep with it ladies...we don't want any quitters on our team. =) If you haven't joined our Scripture Memory Team yet, you can go here to find out all about it. We'd love to have you become a part of this awesome group as we are learning together and holding each other accountable.
This time around I am going to memorize a verse that I often paraphrase but have never put to memory. I want this written on my heart. When the storms hit me from the outside and when the pity party rocks me from the inside, I want to be remember where my focus should be.
Your turn. Leave a comment and let us know what verse you will memorize this time around. Remember to give us the verse, reference and version. Feel free to let us know why you have chosen this verse if you'd like. If you are having a problem choosing your verse, feel free to use this one or one someone else has chosen...either this time around or in the past. Just look on the left under 'Labels' and choose 'SMT'. Then take a look at the comments.
Keep with it ladies! Oh, and if you'd like to share how God is using this in your life, we'd love to hear it.

SMT Verse #2
Today's the 15th of April, and it's time to start on our second memory verse. I pray that your thought life is already changing as you are hiding His Word in your heart.
If you haven't gotten your first verse completely memorized, don't give up! Keep reading it every day...even if it isn't memorized word for word, you are getting His word in your head which can help drive out the lies that like to run around in there.
If you are just learning about the team, come on and join us now! You can go here to find out more about what we are doing as well as sign up. We (and HE) would love to have you on our team!!
I am going to memorize Isaiah 33:6 this time around. I've been having a hard time deciding what version to use so it may kind of be a combo of two. I love it in the NET version, but I also like the last line in the NASB. Anyway, I've chosen this verse because I need the reminder that He is in control when my world seems to be spinning out of control.
"He is your constant source of stability; He abundantly provides safety and great wisdom; He gives all this to those who fear Him." Isaiah 33:6 (NET)
"the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure." (NASB)
Now it's your turn. Leave a comment with your name, your verse, and the version. You can also let us know why you've chosen that verse if you'd like. If you are having a hard time choosing what verse to memorize, feel free to use mine or any of the team verses from this time around or last. That's not cheating! Just don't let the decision...or lack of one become a snare that keeps you from continuing on your steps to our goal of 24 verses. Our enemy would like nothing better. So, pick a verse and get it in your head so that it can change your heart! Next time you see me, ask me to tell you my first verse...I'll be sure to do the same to you. =) Let's hold each other accountable and continue to encourage each other as we take the first couple of steps in this incredible journey.

SMT Verse #1
And so our adventure begins!
I am so excited that we are beginning this year-long adventure together. I can't wait to see how God is going to bless this endeavor...in our lives, in our families' lives, and in our church. Make no mistake--there will be some blessing going on. God has promised that His Word will not return to Him empty but will accomplish what He desires and achieve the purpose for which He sent it (Isaiah 55:11). How awesome is that!!
Because of that promise, we do not have to stress out about what verses we choose to memorize. I will always post the verse I've chosen in case some of you are having trouble figuring yours out. (You'll find it below.) You are welcome to memorize the same one I or any other lady chooses. However, you still need to put your name and the verse in a comment to this post. It's a vital part of the accountability. Don't feel silly or like you've copied. That's what the Body of Christ is for! Many of the Scriptures I have chosen to memorize in the past were those I heard other teachers or leaders recite -- and I knew I wanted those words for myself. It's a normal part of discipleship so feel free!
The verses I have chosen to memorize this time around are ones that have been familiar to me, but I have just never fully memorized. My favorite hymn is also based on this passage. This month happens to start a new year of my life...a year where I want to be purposeful in my pursuit of knowing Him more. As I reflect on this last year of my life and look forward to the next one, I want this one thing to resound in my mind...
"Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)
Now it's your turn. Let us know what you are going to memorize for your first verse. Be sure to type out the entire verse, reference and version when you leave your comment. We're all in this together. Let's continue to lift each other up and encourage one another in our pursuit of knowing Him more.

Women's Retreat
This year's retreat was such a blessing! We were able to get away with Him--spending time in His Word, praising Him through song, and glorying in His beautiful creation. We were able to get away with each other--laugh A LOT, cry a little, and just get to know each other better.
"Come to Me. Get away with Me and you'll recover your life I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me--watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."

SMT Introduction
Anybody want to memorize some Scripture together this year?
Every personal battle we face is won or lost on the playing field of our mind. So often our minds are prone to obsessive thoughts. One way to break those destructive thoughts is to deliberately repeat His Word more times than our minds can repeat a destructive or unhealthy thought. The TRUTH finally defeats the lies...or comforts the hurt. God prevails, and we get the victory.
We can be most victorious and consistent when we work together to hold each other accountable. So, are you ready for some victory in your life? Here's the plan for those who want to be a part of the Scripture Memory Team:
*Commit to memorize 2 Scriptures a month. See? Very, very doable! Doesn't seem like much at first but imagine that, in exaclty one year, you'll have memorized 24 new Scriptures!
*Sign up on this post (in the comment section at the bottom). Really give it some serious thought before you jump on here and sign up. Let's pull together a group that makes it all the way to next April! Do you really want to do this all year long? Will you commit to hang with it? Then sign on up!!
*Watch for posts on the 1st and 15th of every month where you will be asked to leave a comment to let the team know the Scripture you're feeling led to memorize. (You'll type it all the way out in the version of your choice and put the reference with it because one of your CWM sisters might read it and want to memorize it next.) This is an important part of our process! Ask God to give you what He wants to prioritize for you this year...then listen carefully through your quiet times, your Bible studies and Pastor Johnny's sermons for verses that really resonate with you or that you know you really need. He'll highlight one of those in your heart. Choose it with confidence. You'll most easily memorize what means most to you.
*Buy a brand new set of index cards with a spiral that is only for this Scripture memory plan. (Most grocery stores and pharmacies have them...so they are easy to find.) You'll need to have it by April 1st so that you can write your first verse in it. Keep it with you A LOT. The car is a really great place to practice your Scriptures. Also be sure to get them out and say them every time you're feeling tempted to obsessive thoughts. You will be amazed at the impact God's Word will have on your thoughts.
*Watch your prayer life change. In John 15:7-8 Jesus tells us, "If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to My Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples." The more God's Word abides in us, the more the mind of Christ is developed in us. The end result will be that we will pray more and more of God's will and get more and more of what we've asked.
*Have fun with it! Scripture memory is some work but it's also really fun...especially if we do it together!!
